Because this isn't about a place I traveled to.

It's about the place I've always called home.

One of my favorite things about Pittsburgh happens before you ever set foot in the city itself. If you're arriving from Pittsburgh International Airport, the journey takes you through the Fort Pitt Tunnel, and for a few moments, you're surrounded by nothing but darkness. Then, almost like a perfectly timed movie scene, you burst out of the tunnel and are greeted by one of the most breathtaking city reveals in America.

Suddenly, the entire city unfolds before your eyes the gleaming skyline, the three rivers converging below, the iconic yellow bridges stretching across the water, the stadiums standing proudly along the shorelines, and the energy of a city built on grit, innovation, and pride. It's a view that never gets old. I've made that drive thousands of times throughout my life, and even now, I still find myself slowing down just a little to take it all in.

If there’s one experience I tell every first-time visitor they absolutely cannot miss while in Pittsburgh, it’s taking a ride on the historic Duquesne Incline. Long before modern highways and ride-sharing apps existed, these iconic cable cars helped Pittsburgh residents travel up and down the steep hillsides that surround the city. Today, they offer something even more valuable, a chance to experience one of the most spectacular views in America.

As the incline slowly climbs the face of Mount Washington, the city begins to reveal itself little by little. While Pittsburgh is often celebrated for its sports teams, rich history, and iconic skyline, what many visitors don't realize is that it's also one of the best family-friendly destinations in America. As a self-proclaimed sushi lover, there are two Pittsburgh-area restaurants I find myself recommending again and again. On the other hand, if you're searching for incredible value without sacrificing quality, Sushi Bomb in Robinson is tough to beat. I'm probably about to spark a debate among Pittsburghers, but that's part of the fun when talking about pizza in this city. Everyone has their favorite spot, and loyalties can run surprisingly deep. But if you ask me where to find the best pizza in Pittsburgh, my answer is Fiori's. For decades, this local favorite has been serving the kind of pizza that keeps people coming back and recommending it to friends and family.
